Earlier today, the Wombeyan Caves Road and the Wombeyan Karst Conservation Reserve, which includes Wombeyan Caves, was closed.
The road is closed from the Oberon Road through to the High Range Road.
Roads remain open to local traffic only.
"Work is currently being done to establish and strengthen existing control lines," a spokesperson from the RFS said.
"There may be an increase in activity over coming days as the work continues.
"These closures are not due to back burning operations at this point in time, but for public safety - especially in the camping areas and walking tracks."
People in the area should remain vigilant and keep up to date with the bushfire activity.
