All eyes were on Steve Hogan from Yass at the sports shear competition in the shearing shed on Saturday, February 8 during the Crookwell Show as he looked to make it eight wins at the event.

However, it was Crookwell's Nathan Haynes who stole the show in the Open final, shearing the 12 sheep in about five seconds quicker than Hogan.
Haynes lead from pretty much the get go, but Hogan was right with him all the way, falling just short.
The winner was stoked with the result and didn't let the pressure of Hogan's presence get to him.
"It was a great feeling," Haynes said.
"I was able to maintain the pace all day and throughout the whole final."
Hogan was gallant in defeat, and admitted Haynes was the better shearer on the day.
"Maybe I could have sheared the sheep a little quicker, but I wasn't able to catch up to Nathan," Hogan said.
"Nathan just sheared really well which was good to see."
Other than that, Hogan said he didn't do much wrong.
"There wasn't one particular sheep where I slowed down," he said.
"I don't think I could have done much better."
Hogan will be back here next year to try and regain his crown.
