Local Leaders | Upper Lachlan Small Business Association: Business and community need to stay afloat together

As we all try to navigate through uncharted waters of the COVID-19 impact, there are opportunities for businesses to ride out the storm.

Within the Upper Lachlan Shire, we have extraordinary choice for goods and services and how we respond, as a community, will determine how these businesses survive.

'Buy in Your Backyard' was launched in October 2019 to remind community that we have the capacity to supply creative, quality and unique goods and services within our shire.

During times of isolation, it is imperative that we maintain and support small business and for those businesses to be flexible and creative in their promotion.

This may be to offer free home delivery, flexible trading hours, greater online presence through Facebook and Instagram, advertising on radio or local paper.

The one thing we don't lack is products and services.

And no worries regarding parking or lining up!

Our social norms may change, yet local personalised service and support will remain, provided the community continues to support local business.

We have Easter approaching, so what about a small gift, plant or handmade chocolates? A new outfit, shoes, bag?

Perhaps tools for the farm, toys or games to amuse kids during school holidays. Puzzles or card for those in self isolation.

Don't forget yourself with beauty care, hair products, massage or Bowen to relax tense muscles.

Our community has choice in Crookwell, Gunning and Taralga with many options available.

Please take time to look for businesses that are open and where possible, buy that takeaway coffee, sandwich or meal.

It may just make the difference of surviving or sinking.
