New and simpler way to book COVID-19 vaccination appointments

Southern NSW Local Health District (SNSWLHD) is taking public bookings for COVID-19 vaccinations on a new online platform that offers a simpler registration process.

This comes after the booking system for the new Goulburn Vaccination Clinic on Bourke Street experienced technical difficulties on Monday.

A SNSWLHD spokesperson said the issues were caused by the transition to the new system.

The new NSW Health Vaccination Administration Management Platform (VAM) is accessible through the Australian Government HealthDirect Vaccine Clinic Finder and allows the public to book a COVID-19 vaccination for family members or themselves at a clinic, date, and time of their choosing.

People in Southern NSW can now select appointments at NSW Health COVID-19 vaccination clinics in Queanbeyan, Goulburn and Bega.

People aged 12 years and older are eligible for vaccination.

The Queanbeyan and Goulburn clinics have replaced the mobile vaccination clinics that had been operating since May.

They are an addition to the clinic that has been operating at Bega's South East Regional Hospital (SERH).

Bookings are available Tuesday to Saturday at the Queanbeyan and Goulburn clinics and Monday to Sunday at the SERH clinic.

The new online booking system was designed specifically for the public. People can view, reschedule or cancel appointments themselves, as well as select the date, time and clinic for their first and second dose vaccinations.

SNSWLHD COVID-19 Vaccine Coordinator Leanne Ovington said the system is user-friendly and will speed up the administration process when people arrive for their appointments.

"After people fill in their details on the booking system, they are given a QR code, which is scanned at the clinic when they arrive for their appointment," she said.

"All they need to do is scan the QR code and show identification, and the administration team can see their details already in the system."

The booking system also allows for people to disclose any medical conditions before they attend a clinic, which is then automatically reviewed in the system to determine if vaccination is safe for them.

To create an account and book an appointment visit covid-vaccine.healthdirect.gov.au/ eligibility, follow the prompts, and you will be directed to the NSW Health VAM portal.

To see an example of the form, and how to fill it in, visit the SNSWLHD COVID-19 Vaccination page at www.snswlhd.health.nsw.gov.au/our-services/infectious-disease/covid-19-vaccinations

If you've previously registered your details in the old booking system, you will have received an SMS with details on how to register in the new system.

If you haven't received an SMS, please call the SNSWLHD COVID-19 Triage Line on 1800 318 248.

SNSWLHD will also continue to operate pop-up clinics at various locations across the District, including AstraZeneca walk-in clinics for people aged 18 years and older, and Pfizer clinics for targeted groups.
