Twelve months ago, Zuri, the young chimpanzee, was the first chimp infant born in Monarto Zoo's 30-year history – and zoo staff made sure her first birthday on Wednesday didn't go unnoticed.

Although quite clingy to mum, Zombi, little Zuri appeared delighted with her specially prepared boxes of edible gifts and displayed great curiosity.

It created great excitement among the entire chimpanzee troop.
