The Crookwell Lions Club raised the $4600 to purchased the machine for the Crookwell Hospital.
“This allows us to use this machine in the community, wound clinic and also in the hospital, to determine the use of compression bandaging in the treatment of non healing leg wounds,” Mrs Ikin, clinical nurse specialists in wound care and team leader in community health said.
“The ABPI allows us, the clinicians to identify PAD (peripheral arterial disease), provides the information regarding the treatment to follow.”
It is hoped this Dopplex Ability will be a tool used to determine treatment and aid in quicker healing time as an evidence based factor for the appropriate use of compression bandaging or further referral for further tests.
Mrs Ikin told the Gazette, “I wish to take this opportunity to thank the Lions Club for their support and their dedication to supporting our community, and the many hours they provide for such a small group.”
