The owners of the sheep are not sure what type of dog it was or even if it was only one dog.
Neighbours didn’t see or hear anything.
It's the third time this owner has had sheep attacked since February.
One of the prior attacks was two weeks previous to Karen Reeves’ sheep also being attacked on Robert Churchill’s property in Hay Street during May.
Each attack has been the same style with the dog or dogs biting on the face and ripping it until the animal dies, moving onto the next sheep until they are all dead.
Karen Reeves had five ewes heavily in lamb with twins attacked earlier this year on May 15, either early that morning or during the night before.
They were attacked near a dam where there were many good footprints taken.
These allegedly belong to a medium sized type of dog or dogs.
They were also attacked in the same way. Bitten all around the face and head.
The estimated loss of each ewe carrying the twins is $350 each, plus future lamb losses.
Last week there was another attack of three hand raised poddy lambs near Viewhaven.
Mr Robert Churchill of the Crookwell Vet Hospital gave comment speaking about the attacks saying these attacks are similar with all the sheep being killed or wounded by a crushing bite to the face and head area.
“This is a powerful killer and they are some of the most savage attacks I have seen in my life.
“The sheep have identical type wounds and the footprints are of a medium sized dog.
The most recent attack on Laggan Road has seen the owner left with some dead sheep and some having to be put down. They were all mature aged ewes and their big lambs.
The council has the right to impose a ‘dangerous dog order’ which could be served to the owner/s once the dog or dogs are found.
A dog can be ordered to be put down through a court order.
If anyone has information on any of these attacks they are encouraged to come forward to see the Ranger at Upper Lachlan Shire Council or contact local Police.
