The function at Parliament House was an opportunity for all regional academies in NSW to showcase the achievements of scholarship holders that the academy network produces through the various development programs run across the state for talented young athletes.
SERAS was represented by Tegan Molloy aged 18 from Jindabyne, Peter Hearne aged 15 from Malua Bay, and Tasmin Davies aged 13 from Crookwell. Tegan has been a scholarship holder in the Individual Athlete Program since 2011 and this year she became the Junior World Champion in downhill mountain bike in Norway. Peter is on his first individual scholarship and he also became a Junior World Champion this year in the archery discipline of bowhunter in the USA. Tasmin is a very promising athlete in the Cycling Program and she represented NSW at the National Championships as a member of the U15 track team.
Executive Director Garry Lane said: “Tegan, Peter and Tasmin are exceptional young athletes from the SERAS region and it was fabulous for them to be recognised by members of the NSW Parliament and especially the Minister for Sport and Recreation. The Member for Monaro, John Barilaro MP, was also on hand to personally congratulate the athletes from our region.”
