The multi-coloured uniforms and bowls of teams from as far as Port Maquarie and Merimbula looked spectacular on the parched green surfaces. Local district players were well represented with teams from Crookwell and Taralga competing, too.

Geoff Croker from Taralga commented that the greens were good on Friday, rating the close one about a 14-second roll. “They have been well prepared and are a credit to the greenkeepers,” he said.

Wiley Reeves’ team from Crookwell said they could have played better, having gone down in their first game on Friday to Barry Bush’s Yass team 14 to 8.

Barry Bush, John Bruce and Darryl Gold finished fifth in the Rose Tournament and Crookwell’s Aaron Toole, Peter Knight and Peter Hammond finished fourth. 

The $600 third prize money went to Castle Hill’s Eddie Conway, Bryan Wilsdom and Brendan Conway.

Dave Caldwell, Geoff Pryor and Greg Williams from Huskisson took the $900 second prize and Graham Wales, Paul Wood and Peter Marsh from Grandview bowling Club Peakhurst went home with $1800 first prize.
