Playing Goulburn Mulwaree in the grand final saw a very close and hard-fought contest.
Played over two days, the Crookwell team had a fight on their hands right down to the last over.
Crookwell batted first on the Saturday and made 168 runs on a very heavy outfield.
This was a good score, but another 30-odd runs would have been welcomed.
With Goulburn needing 11 runs off the last over, Crookwell held on to win by 7 runs.
“We have a great bunch of players,” coach David Naughton said. “They were a real joy to work with.
“The boys were committed to each other and worked as a team throughout the year and this showed by becoming the champions.
“We had a fantastic year, losing only the one game throughout the season and, ironically, that was to the Mulwaree team.
“What an excellent achievement by this young, talented side.”
Crookwell had many fine players in the 16s with the team dominating the Goulburn awards presentations.
- Dane Klower figures of 9 overs, 3 maidens, 3/16
- Brad Smith’s figures of 7 overs 1/20
- Braiden McCarten 6 overs 1/18
- Zac McGregor top scored with 38 runs
Congratulations, all.
