It was a very exciting and solid effort by both sides in the first half with the Devils defense being tested with the Grizzlies having most of the possession close to their line for most the half.
Despite all the defending Crookwell still found themselves to be first to score with young gun Jayden Eddy backing up a line break from Isaac Walker to score near the posts in the 29th minute. Grizzlies’ patience soon paid off, scoring three minutes later to make the score 6-4.
At the start of the second half Crookwell picked up an early try with Jake Hunter.
When it seemed they had the game won, with Grizzlies’ big boys slacking off after that, let the Devils in for two more tries in the space of six minutes with Ben Picker scoring and converting both of those tries. The Devils, victors 26 points to 10 in what was a very physical game.
- Winners of the 100 club were first prize Steve Boothman and second prize Laura Fletcher.
