At the club’s 63rd annual change-over dinner, held last week with many in attendance, Mr Walsh said Crookwell Rotary was in good shape. A total of $14,888 had been distributed from the club for the 2016/17 period.
“I feel, from a financial aspect, we have done very well in fundraising and I would like to thank the outgoing board and our members,” Mr Walsh said.
“There is a great spirit in the club, which ensures its continued viability.”
These accolades were echoed by the club’s community services director, Brian Castles, and services director, Sean Proudman. Their reports to the club were positive and encouraging.
The club has a membership of 31 with a 61 per cent attendance at fortnightly meetings, who enjoy interesting speakers as well as barbecues and partner evenings, among other get-togethers.
Awards were presented on the night. Joyce Edwards received the prestigious Rotary Community Service Award.
Ms Edwards was overwhelmed. She wears many hats in the Crookwell community and is a tireless worker for her organisations.
Ross Higginson and Les Hewett were joint recipients of the Paul Harris Fellow award and equally surprised at their recognition.
