It was discovered missing on August 14 when a student went to ring the bell.
A spokesperson from NSW Department of Education said the students of Taralga Public School take great pride in their school and their environment.
“The school bell is a significant fixture at Taralga Public School and the school community would appreciate the return of the bell to its rightful place,” she said.
The bell is located behind the school library and is not visible from the front of the school.
Hume LAC Detective Inspector Chad Gillies said police were still investigating the incident.
Police believe the bell was stolen in the five day gap leading up to Monday, August 14.
“This is one of the more unusual incident we’ve had,” Inspector Gillies said.
“We’ve acknowledged the importance of the local community and we would hope that anyone with information will contact local police to further our investigation.”
Taralga Public School posted a Facebook status on the missing bell on Tuesday which has been shared by more than 700 people.
Anyone with information is requested to contact Goulburn Police Station on 02-4824 0799.
