Joe Fahey and Scott Madden have earned their positions from following a shearing circuit across NSW Sports Shears at shows over the past 12 months.
They have both earned points in their respective classes and both made the finals which were held at the Dubbo show during May. Joe in the intermediate class, received a second place, and Scott in the senior class, also a second place.
The NSW team was selected from the top two blade shears classes, intermediate class, senior class, the top three of the open class and the remainder of the team being made up of the top two wool-handlers in NSW.
Joe and Scott have recently also been involved in the first ever shearing camp – Shear Easy. The camp is designed to support the shearers’ lifestyle of physical hard work in relation to their health and fitness which was run by Dylan Folwer (Shear Easy and The Elvolved), Wayne Hosie, Stacey Te Huia and Dwayne Black (Australian Wool Innovation Shearing Instructors and world record holders). They and other shearers, support all the little shows across the state, whilst putting themselves and the shearing industry on show.
Scott is 28 and lives in Binda. He operates his own sheep stud, "Glenwood Park Poll Dorset Stud" established in 2010. His mother and uncle taough him to shear and has been at it for 11 years.
Joe is 27 and is a full time shearer who enjoys fishing, camping and hunting in his down time. Andy Cramp got him started in the industry then Blake Robertson put him on as learner. Now he works full time with Peter Robiunson of ‘Fullerton Sheep Service’.
They have both achieved great milestones in their shearing careers.
