This will be my final Commander's Desk article as I will be moving on to other pastures as of this weekend. I have had the honour of representing the men and women of the Hume Police Command over the last two years and I will dearly miss the friendship and support I have been given over this period.

The community within the Hume boundaries has never been safer and I have to thank our officers for the fine work they do to ensure we look after our community.
I also have to thank the communities of the Southern Highlands and throughout the Southern Tablelands who are very strong supporters of their local police, which also plays a huge part in the successes we have had over the last two years. I will miss the strong supportive community networks we have established that have helped make our community safer than ever. The sense of community throughout our area is something to be very proud of and thankful for. I am also very grateful to the many local stakeholders passionate about their community who work closely with police and myself who have helped with making our community stronger and safer, too many to mention!
This is a growing community with exciting times ahead, much like our local police command, which will be renamed the Hume Police District from this Sunday, February 11. Moving forward the Hume Police District will grow to include the Young Sector, however on the whole it will remain business as usual.
I look forward to seeing the opening of the new Southern Highlands Police Complex at Moss Vale which will be a state of the art facility. This will help our police to improve their service to the whole of the Southern Highlands community, making their job easier with technology in place to ensure they spend more time out on the road. This move will be complimented with an upgrade to the Mittagong Police facility ensuring appropriate access for our customers and police to their police services.
Superintendent Chris Schilt will be taking over the reigns and I wish him very well into the future. Thank you once again for all your support over the last two years and my best wishes are with the men and women of the Hume Police District, and the people of our community.
