Within 18 months he was taking up two shop fronts in the main street.
He then stepped it up another notch and opened another outlet in the town of Boorowa.
During that time he has proved himself to be one of the regions successful young entrepreneurs with the right amount of aggression and flair it takes to make it in the competitive rural retail sector.
His most recent accomplishment is the introduction of the Bullmax log splitter.
Initially Jason had a sample log splitter shipped in from China. It then got a work out when it was field tested on Australian hardwood by local farmers.
“Jim and John Williams from Thalaba were the first to give it a run,” said Jason.
“I think we used the hardest wood we could find on the property, she was certainly tough!
“Gary Herd and Chris Croker also gave it a trial on some of their hardwood.
“With these blokes testing it on real Australian wood, we were able to see exactly what needed to be changed or added to the machine to make it the perfect log splitter for Australian wood,” he said.
The splitter was then redesigned and engineered to adapt and deal with tough Australian hardwood.
This is what makes this splitter different to the standard Chinese import.
From the initial field-testing, several improvements were made and, in the end, a better machine was built.
Jason, with his initiative, may have ended up with what may be the perfect log splitter for Australian hardwood.
The Bullmax log splitter has a lot more features, a lot more steel, and the biggest petrol engine available at 15HP.
It features an electric key start, battery, strong reinforced cutting blade cover, stronger reinforced base plate, reinforced pivot point, biggest ram available at 45 ton, and two tray tables.
It can be operated in either vertical or horizontal position.
These are just some of the features that make this machine stand out from the rest.
“Basically all the other machines in the market are a standard design from a Chinese factory,” said Jason.
“We took that as a starting design and then made improvements and strengthened several areas.
“So it is a far stronger machine”.
Right now the Bullmax log splitter can be purchased for just $1695. That’s $200 off the recommended retail price.
“Next year I predict you would pay over $2000 for the same sort of machine,” said Jason.
“This is definitely the time to buy the best log splitter out there.”
The Bullmax log splitter can be ordered and picked up at locations in Crookwell, Goulburn, Southern Highlands and Wagga.
