This is now the third year of the event and it continues to attract more local and interstate shearers each time the event is run. Last year saw a total of 65 Competitors and was a successful day with great prizes and of course, bragging rights.
This year, the day will get underway from 3pm at the back of the Crookwell Golf Club with nominations and no doubt some early sledging and mind games. We are hoping to attract a larger number of competitors this year due to the national championship being held the following weekend near Carcoar NSW.
There are four shearing divisions and again the quick throw. Last year the winner of the quick throw received $250.00 with other prizes down to fourth place.
The four shearing divisions are Novice, Intermediate, Over 45’s and Open, Nominations closed at 3.00pm sharp. Each division will have a final with the exception of the open which will have a semi-final as well. This will determine the top six shearers to progress to the main event to contend for the $1500.00 first prize. The open division will have cash and prizes as far down as 10th place so everyone has a great chance at coming home with a prize.
So make sure you put November 15, 2014 in your diaries as we look forward to seeing a great crowd of competitors and spectators at the Crookwell Golf Club. We look forward to watching the Open Shearers break the 27 second mark. With both the Bar and Kiwi Café available for the duration of the event, it should make for a great day.
