Project Director Mr. Stuart Liddell, has advised Upper Lachlan Council that it has already connected more than a dozen affected residents to the VAST system (satellite) to provide them with a service.
As Mr. Liddell pointed out in a letter received at last Council meeting, this would provide an immediate solution, whereas any other method would not be available for a number of months.
“We felt this would be unacceptable to those in the community already experiencing a reduced signal strength,” Mr. Liddell commented.
The developers have created a priority list for installations of VAST which included elderly residents and complainants – “and we are monitoring ongoing uptake of the offer to ensure those most in need are being prioritised.”
Meanwhile, the company is continuing to investigate long term options for improving the TV signal in the Taralga area.
Installation of a re-transmitter tower is one of the options being considered.
Assessment of feasibility will be undertaken over the coming months to progress that option.
