Helicopters and ground crews patrolled powerlines in the greater Goulburn and Crookwell areas identifying additional faults on the electricity distribution network, including powerlines brought down by the build-up of snow and ice and contact with vegetation.
Crews continued to make repairs to the electricity network throughout the weekend in challenging conditions, with melting snow and ice causing unstable ground and limiting access to some fault locations.
Essential Energy anticipates that about 140 customers in Goulburn and Crookwell remained without power over the weekend.
Customers can call 13 20 80 for updates.
Essential Energy thanks customers for their understanding and patience as they work to repair the electricity network.
With the heavy falls and the frosty conditions on top freezing the remaining snow this made the conditions unsafe for pedestrians and motorists.
Management at the Crookwell Hospital reported that there were plenty of casualties over the weekend.
Due to the extremely harsh conditions of the weekend the emergency department was busy with people sustaining multiple fractures to bones due to falls in the snow and the icy conditions.
The Council will be kept busy with a massive cleanup of fallen branches and uprooted trees.
