The new centre would consist of toilets and team change rooms (with disabled facilities), canteen, gymnasium, storage facilities and a club room/all weather sports viewing room.
This year's applications, relevant to our Shire, are being assessed on; Viability - a well planned project, project administration and management experience and organisational-level strategic partnerships .
This will be the third attempt to gain ClubGrants funds for this much needed community facility.
Last year, Council had favourable feedback on their application with ClubGrants saying that the application was considered “very competitive and excellent.”
ClubGrants said that round three was highly competitive and that Councils argument regarding the gap in facilities in the area was well addressed as was the demographic evidence of disadvantage in the area.
Council believes they have a good chance this round if they follow the feedback on how to improve the application.
Feedback included seeing more support from the community by way of partnerships, i.e. local clubs and users donating to the project.
The Council has budgeted funding toward the project for the 2018/2019 financial year however ClubGrants believes there should be commitment from the users which shows community involvement in the project.
A letter dated September 12 has been distributed to sporting bodies and key stakeholders in the Shire asking for support and so far three clubs have came forward with pledged amounts.
The Upper Lachlan Shire Council has expressed thanks to the Crookwell Rugby Union Club for their pledge of $2,000, Crookwell Rotary Club have pledged $1000 and to Crookwell Lions a pledge of $500.00.
Council will keep the community informed.
