Accompanied by the mayor of Upper Lachlan Shire Council, Brian McCormack, and general manager, John Bell, Jacinta Tynan, the Australia Day Ambassador, arrived in time to enjoy an appetising lunch served by volunteers from the CWA. The Australia Day Citizen Award was then presented to Laurie Chalker for his outstanding work on the Bannaby Church and Cemetery and his continuing work on Stonequarry Cemetery.
Fletcher Craig was honoured as Young Citizen of the Year for his prowess at sport and his fine attitude.
The Open Draft was won by Jade French, Taralga; 2nd Lucy Sellers, Bendok; 3rd Steve Hart Gugong; Karen Darmody won the Ladies Draft with Kim Brien 2nd and Natasha (Carlon) Stanbridge 3rd.
The Juvenile went to Dan French; the Junior to Grace McNaughton; M. French won the A Division of the Maiden while J. French won the B Division.
The Maiden Draft with 187 entries was divided into two divisions. Lyn Kelly won the Novice Draft.
Competitors travelled from Tamworth to ride in the Rodeo which found the Moruya bulls too strong for most riders.
Mike Rowson won the event on Yaca Bom with a score of 72. C. Thatcher won the Saddle Ride (77) on Boothill Saddler; 2nd was L. Carlo; equal 3rd. T. Kerr and B. Lees; 4th. H. Murphy.
Ben Lees scored 79 to win the Bareback on Ridetuff Red Robi; 2nd was Clayton Pickering on Hells Fury (77); 3rd. Mitchell Tidyman (70) on Cotton Candy; 4th. S. Davey (69) Opposite Attraction; 5th. H. Mackin (65) Little Tokyo. Two riders only scored in the Novice Saddle – D. Weir won (69) with R. Cox (63) 2nd.
The Novice Bull Ride went to J. Picker (77), L. Stenhouse 2nd. (72), J. Rayner (70) 3rd, Z. Maher (66) 4th. The Junior Bull Ride was won by J. Little (82), D. Weir and C. Woodbridge equal 2nd. (68), J. Read 3rd, (52). The Junior “Man,Bike,Horse” was won by Hayley Francis withTy Cosgrove 2nd. The Senior “Man, Bike, Horse” Race went Shana McLean (horse), Jake McKenzie (runner) and Martin Francis(bike).
