The competition will be on Tuesday, February 28 with the sheep entries being judged on-farm.
The judges this year are George Merriman of ‘Merriville’, Boorowa and Gary Cox of ‘Langdene’, Dunedoo.
The top two ewe flocks selected will go on to compete against the best flocks in the Southern Tablelands’ competition, comprising Boorowa, Crookwell and Taralga, on Friday, March 17.
Crookwell will host the event this year on that date.
Flock Ewe at this year’s Gunning Show was cancelled following the death of Oolong farmers Andrew and Anne Basnett on February 16.
The competition convenors are also inviting district schools to participate in the junior judging section that is run in conjunction with local ewe competitions.
The best school in each local ewe competition will be rewarded with cash prizes and move on to the regional competition.
These events provide a hands-on approach and pathway for young people interested in pursuing a career in agriculture.
Students will be exposed to agricultural industry pathways with small group presentations by financial institutions, wool brokers agronomists, and stock and station agents.
