It was donated and planted to honour members of the Crookwell Red Cross branch who served with Red cross in the years between 1914-2014. One-hundred years on.
The Crookwell branch of the Red Cross had a public meeting in the Literary Institute on August 25, 1914.
This was a few short weeks after the declaration of the first World War.
The meeting was chaired by the then Shire President and late, John Keith.
Office bearers elected at the meeting were Mesdames Keith Hodge, Clarke and Rowe.
The branch soon found itself in the thick of war work and so begun the tradition of service that exists in the branch today.
The branch has a proud history of service in times of both peace and war.
During WW2 there were many parcels of food and clothing sent from the Red Cross to the war.
The Crookwell Red Cross club has 12 members and welcomes more and encourages you to join.
This March get involved in Red Cross Calling - whether you donate your time or money, you'll be helping people in need across Australia.
