Hart’s Pharamacy owner Ken Wicks says the bowel kit is a detection starting point for people and reminds readers to get their kits prior to the end of this month.
“If there is an irregularity in the test results, this does not mean you have bowel cancer,” Mr Wicks said.
“But, it does allow you to go to your doctor and see what the problem might be.”
He says bowel cancer, prevalent among men, can be treated easily if detected early.
“There is over a 90 per cent chance of success if treated quickly.”
Mr Wicks encourages people to buy the kit.
“It’s really raising awareness and it also means people are in communication with their doctor more,” he said. The bowel kit costs up to $15 and will be sold until the end of May. The kits are sold annually as a Rotary Club project.
