It follows an announcement in June that Gunning had been named an RV Friendly Town under the CMCA’s RV Friendly initiative.
Upper Lachlan Shire Council’s General Manager John Bell said recognition as an RV Friendly Town will help boost tourism in Bigga and surrounding towns.
“It will enable Bigga to be promoted through CMCA’s channels and allow ‘RV Friendly Town’ signage to be installed in the town,” Mr Bell said.
“With over 70,000 members, CMCA are the largest RV Club in the southern hemisphere. To be able to tap into CMCA’s membership base to promote Bigga as a tourist destination is a major coup for the town.
“More visitors to the town means more money spent locally, which provides a boost for existing local businesses and encourages growth of the town and surrounding villages.”
An application has been lodged with CMCA for Tuena to be recognised as an RV Friendly Destination.
Council is also investigating a suitable location for short stay parking for RVs and caravans in Crookwell. Once this is determined an application for Crookwell will be made to CMCA to become an RV Friendly Town.
