Upper Lachlan Shire Council Mayor Brian McCormack OAM said the pre-construction community consultation meeting was an opportunity for the local community to provide Council with their final feedback on the plans and timetable for the upgrade of Crookwell Memorial Oval.
“It was wonderful to see so many local sporting and community groups so well represented, ” Cr McCormack said.
“The local sports groups in particular were able to provide information regarding the working elements of the project, including the placement of facilities within the building which will include a gymnasium, canteen, storage, public toilets, change rooms, disabled toilets, a referees’ room and a club room viewing area.
“This facility will be used by the community for decades to come so it is essential that we get it right. Feedback from the meeting will help inform the final plans.”
Construction is expected to commence in October 2018.
The new Community Sports Centre will be built with $600,000 funding from the NSW Government’s Club Grants program, $425,113 from Upper Lachlan Shire Council and $11,500 worth of financial backing from local sports groups.
