The design company, which was also involved in stage one of the streetscape theme guide, will begin curating the final draft concept design.
Director of operations Mursaleen Shah said the council received two tenders for the project, but was unable to provide more information on the interest and competitiveness of this process due to Section 10 of the Local Government Act and commercial confidence.
“We will progress with the themes agreed by the community and plan for the future development of the 12 villages,” Mr Shah said.
The council have allocated $150,000 for this project.
According to the project plan, the Streetscape Project draft was scheduled to begin this month.
But Mr Shah told The Gazette a later start date would not impact the construction or planning for the work.
“We have received a project timeline, most of the activities for the project will be between now and end of the calendar year. Sometime before Christmas we will come back to the community,” she said.
Content for the project has been collated following consultation with residents and stakeholders, a community survey and the Our Towns – Schools’ Ideas Competition led by council.
“Once complete, the draft plans will be placed on public exhibition, allowing the community to have their say before the final concept plans are adopted by Council for construction,” acting general manager Gary Woodman said.
“The aim of the streetscape improvement project is to beautify the Shire in a consistent, cohesive way, while allowing the towns and villages to retain their own unique charm.”
