According to secretary Don Southwell, the members spoke about their plans to build a veranda behind the shed to ease storage space indoors and are now full steam ahead for their expansion to the building.
Last Friday, after Ms Goward made representations to Premier Gladys Berejiklian, Mr Southwell and president John Medway proudly accepted the cheque for the shed.
“We were absolutely delighted that Pru made representations. She is aware of activities in the shed and the benefits to the community,” Mr Southwell said.
“We believe we’ve fulfilled a very important role in the Crookwell area for looking after the elderly and their mental health.”
The charter member said the veranda, about 30 metres in length, would be built over the next six months.
With up to 30 members, Mr Southwell said the shed was also about working together with the community and assisting with projects.
Ms Goward said the Crookwell Men’s Shed was “an important part of the Crookwell community. As well as giving locals the opportunity to learn a new skill and contribute to projects, it’s a place where men can come and have a chat and a coffee.”
