This is not the team list from Saturday, nor is it the current standings for best and fairest. This is the list of players who have played for the Dogs this year but were unavailable against Gungahlin in Canberra this weekend past.
There has been many a rugby season where this would mean a forfeit at the very best, but thanks to some talented and committed fringe players the dogs managed to keep their undefeated 2018 record intact.
Crookwell Dogs 33, Gungahlin Eagles 15.
Patrick Carlon gets the accolades for round eleven. Patrick had all the skills on display. From his newfound passing game, to his well proven difficult-to-tackle game, to his be-everywhere defensive game, Carlon shouldered the responsibility for maintaining the dogs winning season and led his pack and his team to victory.
Mention must again also go to the remaining members of a hard-working tight five, Gearin Price, Scott Kensit, Andrew Nolan and Edward Price. In conditions where ducks, eskimos and penguins refuse to come outside, these boys were magnificent.
When Jackson Tooth woke up on Saturday morning the last thing he was thinking about was playing football and probably the second last thing he thought about was combining with Matt Roberts at fullback and Nick Skelly on the far side to save the day for the Dogs. Not once, but on several occasions these three stepped up to the plate and hit it out of the park. Above and beyond expectation BTC members.
Saint Nicholas Toole was called on earlier than expected after Patrick Peter Legend Foley caught the Crookwell Dogs flanker disease and copped a shoulder injury. Nicholas is without a shadow of a doubt the best sixteenth man in the competition. The Dogs strength is personified by being able to have this set-piece specialist come off the bench. His performance was brilliant.
Next best on ground were the magnificent support crew. Despite the atrocious conditions Tristan Kensit and Verity Price led a team of supporters, determined to support their beloved Dogs to victory. Thank you girls. Your support is often the difference.
Next week, the Dogs are off to Yass to tackle the difficult to read Rams. As with every team in the competition, home ground is worth twenty points in Yass. The Dogs will need to be served by their best, at their best.
