The program, The Investment Atrraction Package for Regional NSW, is an intiative to seek out business and showcase to them the benefits of moving to regional areas.
It hopes to increase the number of business moving to regional NSW towns.
Offering business incentives, cutting planning red tape and providing grants to skilled workers.
"Investment is essential to the Shire’s economy – it provides employment opportunities and enhances the livability of our towns and villages,” said Upper Lachlan Shire General Manager John Bell, who also welcomed the NSW Government's announcement.
"Population growth is also critical to the future of our towns and villages to ensure they remain vibrant, viable and attractive places to live, work and invest into the future," said Mr Bell.
The Investment Attraction Package for Regional NSW features:
- $20 million in grants and interest free loans to eligible businesses to be offset against tax
- $10 million in grants of up to $10,000 per eligible skilled worker to meet relocation costs
- The appointment of a representative to support businesses investing in or moving to regional NSW
- Previously announced, business hubs that will offer infrastructure
Deputy Premier and Minister for Regional NSW John Barilaro said this is one of many programs improving infrastructure, investment, economic prosperity and connectivity.
“The Investment Attraction Package complements other initiatives such as our 20-year Economic Vision for Regional NSW, our $500 million Growing Local Economies fund, and the programs that are transforming regional NSW into a place where people can get great jobs, run great businesses and have a great lifestyle,” Mr Barilaro said.
“On behalf of Council, I would like to thank the NSW Government for this investment in regional NSW. We hope these incentives and supports will give city dwellers the nudge they need to make the move to our wonderful Shire and experience all that we have to offer,” said Mr Bell.
