The evening branch has mobilised businesses, community facilities and local events to support the cause.
“While we have recently received some much-needed rain there are still farming families in our local community who are struggling as a result of the drought,” CWA Crookwell Evening Branch president, Rosemary Seary said.
Choccies for the Cockies was launched across Crookwell.
“Choccies for the Cockies is a small way we can help ease some of the financial burden faced by some local farming families and show them that the community is behind them. With the festive season fast approaching, our aim is to help make this Christmas a little brighter for our local farmers.”
CWA will work with the Rural Financial Counselling Service (RFCS). Proceeds raised would be used to purchase supermarket vouchers which would then be distributed to families by the RFCS.
“Choccies start from just 50 cents, we are hoping that many people will indulge their sweet tooth for a very worthy cause,” Ms Seary said.
