“CVH has been in Crookwell for over 35 years and at its current location for 12 years,” says co-director Will Lucas.
Will and co-director Jayde Costello (both of whom are veterinarians) bought the practice 16 months ago.
“The reason for opening was to provide high quality veterinary services to the Crookwell district,” says Will.
They also service the wider Goulburn district and various local neighbouring townships such as Taralga, Bigga and Gunning.
There are 12 people working at Crookwell Veterinary Hospital in a variety of roles. Among them are veterinarians, veterinary nurses, receptionists and administration roles including a practice manager.
The practice provides veterinary services to pets as well as production farm animals, and in addition to 24 hour medical and surgical services they offer preventative measures too. Examples include “Vaccines, drenches, parasite prevention and control products, medications, dog and cat food and prescription diets.”
There is also a puppy preschool and obedience training, a companion animal program, a cat adoption program, grooming care in their own facilities, and wildlife care. “Our practice has a dedicated policy of taking in sick or injured native birds, animals or reptiles, free of charge.” If it’s more convenient, you can also take injured native animals directly to WIRES (02 4822 3888).
Will says that their practice prides itself on its “Professionalism, high level of care, fantastic staff, [and being] a true mixed practice [with] excellent facilities and equipment.” He also describes them as “friendly and approachable.” Their expert advice is therefore necessary “To receive the highest level of care and achieve the best outcome for your pets [and] to improve the management and welfare of production and farm animals.”
They are also involved in the community “In numerous ways [such as] supporting the Crookwell Show Society, Christmas in the park, helping treat wildlife, [and the] kitten adoption program.”
