Crookwell and Taralga Aged Care (CTAC) service providers will run the basic support to the high-end nursing complex at 49 Goulburn Street.
Aged care is cited as one of the biggest growing industries in the Upper Lachlan Shire, and CTAC chief executive officer Jo Boyce said the turnover for the program, which has been operating without premises, is more than a million dollars a year.
“Growth has gone from nothing to where it is today, with 20 staff and a coordinator and team leader, and that is growing by the month as the government rolls out the ‘Living Longer, Living Better’ reform [for] people wanting to stay at home longer,” Mrs Boyce said.
ULS mayor John Stafford said the aged care provider was arguably one of the biggest local employers next to the council.
The hub would be a coordination point for navigating aged care and provide support and access to services including, in-home services (including home care packages), My Aged Care, MeetUp programs and the new Aged Care Hub, and also provide a much needed work and training rooms for the staff.
It would also assist people already in the system. There are 120 people, aged 65 to 100 years, who are community clients. The aged care facility is an NDIS provider
It is discrete, private, and would assist people with the often complicated and difficult to navigate aged care system, Mrs Boyce said.
