One of the first major sporting events of the show will be the Sports Shear, which will get underway at 8.30am on Saturday, with the finals to be held on Saturday afternoon. The event is one of the longstanding fixtures of the show’s calendar, having begun in 1976.
This year’s event will have four divisions and plenty of action for shearing fans.
The show will also feature a number of horse and pony events for the pleasure of the equestrian-minded spectators. Seven rings will run constantly across Saturday and Sunday, with most beginning at 8.30am.
Sunday’s events will include the Crookwell Pony Club’s rally day on ring two.
There will also be an All Breeds Championship Dog Show on Saturday, which will take place at the Lyn Cooper Sporting Oval. On Sunday, there will also be a Flyball Dog Competition, which is a challenge between dogs of a similar size, where they chase a ball through hoops and obstacles in a race against the clock.
Finally, Sunday will feature a Woodchop Competition to be held from 10.00am until roughly 3.30pm. Eight events will be held in total as part of the woodchop, along with a New Zealand South Island vs NSW special event.
