The event attracted around 140 riders from across the state and the ACT. For the U15 and U17 riders, there was the added incentive of their performance in Saturday's road racing contribution toward state selection while ACT riders were also competing for points in the National Junior Road Series.
Riders competed in four stages over the two days and the format includes a prologue, two road races and an individual time trial.
There are limited opportunities for junior riders to compete in road races and for many years the Goulburn Cycle Club has been leading the way with what is now one of the biggest junior tours in NSW if not the country.
The Goulburn Junior Tour is not just an event for the elite riders but one for all abilities to have a go and test themselves on a challenging course over two days.
In the feature women's race Haylee Fuller (Dubbo) dominated the U17 Women's winning all four stages by over eight minutes. Sarah Cliff (Illawarra) finished second with Zara Fuller (Dubbo) in third place.
In the U17 Men's team mates Dylan Eather and Daniel Barber from Dubbo battled it out for overall honours. Dylan Eather was more consistent taking out the tour while Aiden Sinclair (Hunter Districts) squeezed into second place just ahead of Daniel Barber (Dubbo).
There was close racing all weekend in the U15 Girls as Illawarra's Bronte Stewart won by nine seconds over Keira Will (Lidcombe Auburn) and Victoria Belinda Bailey (Bendigo).
Ben Anderson from Orange took out the U15 Boys from Oscar Chamberlin (Canberra) and Hugh Harvey (Randwick Botany).
There are only three Goulburn junior cyclists flying the flag for the club at the tour. The three local Goulburn girls rode well and were very competitive in their respective age groups.
The standout performance was U9 Indie Champion who won all four stages.
Elsie Apps was fifth overall in U13 Girls including a third place in Sunday's road race.
Caitlin Bensley, coming back from a broken wrist, was 13th in a quality field of U15 Girls which included of Australian, NSW and ACT champions and representatives.
Local road racing returns next weekend on Middle Arm Road for the 41km Bryant's Cafe Handicap. Sign on is opposite the cemetery by 1.45pm and racing starts at 2.00pm. New riders are welcome.
