As the 2019 competition nears its midway mark, the Dogs thumped the Broulee Dolphins in Broulee last Saturday, 5-38.
While the Dolphins were never going to prove to be Crookwell's toughest competition, considering that they are last on the ladder and yet to win a match this season, the Dogs knew that they could scarcely afford to be complacent.
In its early stages, it seemed as though Broulee might pose a challenge to the Dogs. They began the scoring early, with a try in the first minute of the match.
However, Crookwell responded five minutes later with a try of its own. This began a run of scores for the Dogs which saw them pile on 31 points in the first half.
Meanwhile, the Dolphins could not add any further points to their tally in the last 79 minutes of the game as the Dogs effectively shut them out.
The victory sets up an intriguing match this weekend against the Bungendore Mudchooks.
The Mudchooks, much like the Dogs, have had a mixed year in 2019. They currently sit fifth, and the last time the two played, it resulted in a one-point win for Crookwell.
Crookwell have the home-ground advantage this Saturday, when the match kicks off from 2.30pm at Crookwell Memorial Oval.
