The Crookwell She Devils scrape through in the last possible moment

That got the Crookwell She Devils across the line against the North Canberra Bears in a tight 10-6 contest at Seiffert Oval on Saturday, August 24.

She Devils co-coach Paddy Lenane called it a good win rather than a close call, but wasn't entirely happy with the performance.

"It was a bit of a scrappy game for us," Lenane said.

"We made it pretty hard for ourselves. There were lots of penalties in the game and we couldn't get it flowing.

"It was very hot and we had our energy zapped out of us. We just needed to pick up our energy in the back half and the girls did that.

"In the end, they pushed on and scored a try with two minutes to go."

The win means they retain their second chance when they play the Harden Hawkettes at Jamison Oval on Saturday, August 31, but it's the last thing on their mind.

"We know we've got a second chance, but we don't think about it too much," he said.

"We're taking every game as our last game."

The Hawkettes are unbeaten this season and Lenane put that down their standout representative player as well as their discipline.

"They do the simple things really well," he said.

"They're not flashy, but they don't give many penalties away."

A win will put the She Devils straight through to the grand final.
