The upgrade, funded with $223,564 under the NSW Government's Stronger Country Communities Fund Round 1 and the remainder funded by council, will encourage greater use of the beautiful waterside reserve by locals as well as visitors to our shire, including tour groups and travellers staying at the nearby Crookwell Caravan Park.
The upgrade has included the replacement of the uneven gravel pathway with a new concrete path and the removal of the dilapidated footbridge with a new steel footbridge, providing disability access and a designated connection between Saleyards and Laggan Roads.
Solar lighting has also been installed along the pathway to enable extended use of the reserve in darker, winter months.
The upgrade complements the significant work already undertaken at the reserve, including the installation of a disabled ramp and toilet block.
On behalf of the council I would like to thank the NSW Government for making this upgrade possible and congratulate the Kiamma Creek Landcare Group on their tireless efforts in advocating for improvements to this wonderful community space.
With construction complete, landscaping and a clean-up of the area is now underway, with the recreation area expected to be open to the community by the end of this week.
As the weather warms up, Pat Cullen Reserve will be the perfect place to have a picnic, take a stroll or simply soak up the beautiful scenery.
