Principal Sarah Lowe said in her opening speech that the school community was "thrilled" with the grant worth $108,400 from NSW Government to build the sporting facility.
"This along with a $16,500 contribution from the St Mary's Parents and Friends Association, and $10,200 from the school, has enabled us to create a wonderful sporting facility that will support our school students and the whole community," Mrs Lowe said.
The sports court is phase one of the development of the site. It provides competition sized basketball, netball and tennis courts, along with a practice wall and handball courts.
"This facility will be utilised every day by St Mary's Primary School and will also be offered as a venue for local basketball and netball competitions, something that is not currently offered in our district" she said.
Plans for the site include an amenities block and roof.
Mrs Lowe said the development was made possible with the support of Father Dermid McDermott and the church parish.
She also acknowledged the tradespeople that worked on the facility including the teams from Dynamic Sports Courts, Bayden Selmes and Kent Writer.
Special guests included Member for Goulburn Wendy Tuckerman, the director of education for the Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Mr Ross Fox, parish administrator Father Dermid McDermott, parish associate Sister Rosemary Hart, chairman of St Mary's Primary School board Mr Andrew Pursell and school board members, president of St Mary's Parents and Friends Association Daniel Walsh and the executive, and members of the parish pastoral council.
