The statewide program via Petaurus Connections is to protect threatened species in the Upper Lachlan Shire, including the Squirrel glider, Spotted-tailed quoll and Scarlet Robin.
"Petaurus Connections is all about working with the local community to help our much-loved threatened squirrel gliders and other threatened species including quolls and robins that are in need of help," Mary Bonet, coordinator of Kanangra Boyd to Wyangala Link, K2W Glideways, said.
"Paddock trees and patches of native woodland are important in maintaining the productive capacity of agricultural land and they are critically important to the conservation of our gliding possums, quolls and many other threatened woodland fauna species."
Funding is for planting trees and shrubs, nectar-rich feed species, fencing for remnant and scattered paddock tree protection, replacement of barbed wire fencing with a wildlife friendly alternative and the installation of nest boxes. As well as a chance to take a property assessment and plan for conservation using best farm practice.
In the last seven years, 1000 hectares of land have been restored through K2W Glideways. There has been over 30,000 trees and shrubs planted, nest boxes installed, barbed wire fencing removed and further management of pest animals and weeds.
"This program adds to the amazing work," Ms Bonet said.
