More than $1 million of extra road funding will be made available to the Upper Lachlan Shire Council under the federal government's drought response package.

Member for Hume Angus Taylor announced the funding on December 5 as part of the $138.9 million allocations for drought-affected communities.

The Upper Lachlan Shire Council will receive an additional $1,203,048 on top of its allocation of $6,015,241 for the revised Roads to Recovery funding.
Also in Hume, Hilltops Council was allocated an additional $1,770,968.
""The extra roads funding will improve local infrastructure, improve safety and stimulate local economic activity, which is what regional communities need in times of drought," Mr Taylor said.
Overall, over $7 million has been allocated to the Upper Lachlan Shire in the federal budget over the next four years for road safety.
It will be available for the council to use for Roads to Recovery projects in 2020. But, it is not known which projects will be nominated.
The Roads to Recovery program is a federal government initiative for safer roads in the regions.
