Two Landcare members were recently busy planting about 50 native Lomandra and tea tree plants along its banks.
These will help support the Pobblebonk frogs that can be heard calling throughout the day and a variety of other native animals looking for somewhere to call home, including the Rakali which has been sited at the creek several times.
Upper Lachlan Landcare was hoping to have the help of students from St Mary's Primary School to complete the planting but that wasn't possible under the current coronavirus restrictions.
However, anyone can now see the plantings as they wander along the path and enjoy the positive action that has been taking place in their community.
Like many in our community, Landcare has had to postpone and cancel many events but wherever possible we have tried to redesign.
We have been exploring using a variety of platforms to still reach our members and interested people in the community.
Recently launching the 'Upper Lachlan Landcare Community Connects' Facebook Group is one example.
"This is a place to leave our anxiety for a time and share something bright you are seeing in your day," Upper Lachlan Landcare (ULL) chair Vince Heffernan explained.
It is currently an open group and Landcare invites any interested community members to join. We aim to close the group, just for ease of management on Friday April 3. However, joining will still be possible after this date simply by contacting ULL coordinator Ruth Aveyard on 0447 242 474 or coordinator@upperlachlanlandcare.org.au.
Other events Landcare plans to still deliver include the Landcare school holiday activity in April and an information session on 'What comes up after the rain comes down'. To find out about any of these events, again contact our coordinator or log onto our website at https://www.upperlachlanlandcare.org.au/.
And in the meantime, we are planning for lots of great spring time events, including plenty of community plantings!
We care about what you think.
