Due to a recent injury to a staff member at council, council paused its grass cutting schedule across the shire in line with Workcover guidelines. After a thorough review and ensuring all appropriate safety protocols and procedures are in place and being adhered to, council has recommenced its grass-cutting. The combination of rotating rainy and sunny days has ensured there's a bit of catching up to be done, but its back on track.
Angus Taylor visit to Upper Lachlan
It was very pleasing and productive for the general manager and myself to spend some time with Angus Taylor on his visit to the shire last week and to be able to show him the results of some of the Federal Funding Council has received. Obviously, discussions about the Crookwell Pool were front and centre but we were also able to discuss our roads and bridges, our overall direction as a council and our plans for the villages including street-scaping and beautification. Angus and the Federal Government have assisted the shire with many grants including the recent announcement of $4,332,281 to be spent on a number of roads spread across the shire, including Cullerin Rd, Bigga Rd, Fullerton Rd, Jerrawa Rd, Peelwood Rd and Collector Rd.
Strong competition for Senior Council Roles
Applications have now closed for four senior roles with Upper Lachlan Shire Council, three managers and a director. The recruitment process has been undertaken by McArthur Recruitment and they have been impressed by the quantity and quality of applicants. Each position received ten or more genuine applications representing a mix of local and not-yet-local applicants.
