His most recent role has been supervising prescriptions for clients of Priceline in Bowral.
Bruce graduated from Sydney University and started his pharmacist career in 1950 in Blacktown.
He worked at the same pharmacy for the next 55 years, "retiring" to the Southern Highlands and a 400-acre property in Marulan.
However, his retirement was only in name.
He became a stand-in pharmacist in Goulburn, Bowral, Crookwell, Yass and Queanbeyan, driving very long distances to provide locum pharmacist services to pharmacies requiring holiday or sickness relief.
Bruce first worked in Bowral at the pharmacy which was located in the shopping mall on the site that is now Bowral's Coles supermarket.
Asked what he felt was the highlight of the unprecedented career Bruce simply stated, "it's been the thousands of really lovely people I have encountered along the way, and the knowledge that the medicines I was dispensing would make a real improvement for them".
Bruce chose to retire at the end of January as he is moving south and downsizing.
But his downsized property will still be 125 acres and is sure to keep him busy.
From his early days commuting on a motor bike in student days to his newly-acquired capacious Volvo wagon, Bruce maintains an active driving licence and shows few signs of planning to slow down.
Bruce is wished all the best in the next chapter of his life.
Thank from all for your unprecedented years of service to the community.
