The four men with face-coverings entered the Kew supermarket in Melbourne's east at 8.30pm on April 9 and demanded cigarettes.
The shop attendant can be seen on CCTV backing away from the alleged armed robbers as they push past him to fill bags with bottles of premium spirits.
Police said the staff member was not injured during the alleged robbery.
The group stole bottles of high-end alcohol worth $800 after they discovered that there were no cigarettes stocked in the store at the time, police said.
Investigators believe the four men were also responsible for a robbery in Camberwell an hour earlier when almost $400 worth of alcohol was allegedly stolen from a liquor store on Through Road.
