Twelve merino bloodlines from across the Upper Lachlan are ready to be put on display in the ANZ Agribusiness Crookwell Commercial Merino Flock Ewe Competition this January 22-23.

Returning judge Georgia Waters of Merani Park, Dalgety will be joined by Alan McCormack of Walwa Merino Stud, Gurrundah.
Mr McCormack stepped in at the last minute for James Barron of Adina Merino and Poll Merino Stud, Cooma who is surrounded by fires.
Mr McCormack has judged many of the major sheep shows in Australia, including Sydney Royal, National Merino Sheep Show and Ram Sale at Dubbo, Australian Sheep and Wool Show at Bendigo, Sheepvention in Hamilton, Adelaide Royal and WA Sheep Expo and Ram Sale in Katanning.
The two judges will be busy on the Wednesday and Thursday, selecting finalists from 15 entrants.
The Crookwell Flock Ewe Competition now has the largest number of entrants of any flock ewe competition in NSW.
Eight finalists will be announced at a dinner and presentation evening at Crookwell Services Club, from 7pm, on January 23.
Four finalists will be announced in the Summer Shorn Section (ewes shorn up to September 1) and four finalists will be announced in the Spring Shorn Section (ewes shorn from September 1).
This gives spring and summer shearings an extra incentive to show their sheep to the public and judges.
The eight finalists will have five of their ewes on display on February 9 at Crookwell Show, when the overall finalist of each section will be announced.
They will then be invited to enter the Southern Tablelands Flock Ewe Championship on March 20.
Crookwell, Taralga, Gunning and Boorowa Flock Ewe Competitions combined to create the event and there will be more information available during the competition.
With wool prices still at a relative high level before the Christmas recess, and mutton prices also as good as they have ever been, twelve different merino bloodlines and various soil types, this competition is a great opportunity to view on-farm many different wool and body types within the merino industry in the local shire.
An air-conditioned bus will leave Crookwell Services Club on the Wednesday and Thursday at 7.15am. Seats must be booked and a small cost will apply. Call Michael Lowe 02 4832 2441 or 0407 552 619. All welcome.
For catering purposes, names for the Thursday night dinner must be into Michael Lowe by January 19. Cost is $30 per head for a two-course meal.
